If an employee, working on a farm or slaughter house, uncovers - TopicsExpress

If an employee, working on a farm or slaughter house, uncovers animal abuse in Nebraska, the LB 204 bill states they are required by law to turn their information over to law enforcement immediately. (However, I doubt anyone will report animal abuse if their paycheck depends on it. Abuse is happening, but no one is talking.) The bill also states that if someone who actually advocates against animal abuse is working undercover at these facilities, and taking incriminating videos of abused animals, they will be heavily prosecuted and labeled as whistle blowers for hurting business. (Even if a non-advocate employee did turn over animal abuse evidence by law, what would stop them from being labeled as an advocate and then prosecuted? o.O) Undercover investigations are our only hope to fight this madness, yet there are ag-gag bills being written in every state to prevent this from happening. (If there is nothing to hide, then why go to such extreme measures to keep people quiet?) Why? Because secrecy is what makes this system possible. This legislation in Nebraska was introduced in 2012 and 2013, but it FAILED thanks to public pressure, petitions, a coalition of animal advocates, civil rights groups and media organizations that are currently fighting this new law in federal court. :) Please sign the petition against this horrid bill to prevent that from changing at ag-gag.org/
