If an organization can get 40,000 signatures on petitions, they can determine a whole bunch of changes in our current Elective. This situation should not go away. For those of you are not aware, petitioners got 40,000 signatures and presented them to Philadelphia City Council and ask that a ballot question be placed on this November 2014 ballot for Philadelphians to VOTE whether they (we) would prefer an Elected School Board (like most counties in the State of PA) as oppose to the carefully selected School Reform Commission. Last Thursday it was suppose to go up for vote by council members (17 votes) and the bill was withdrawn because it was said they didnt have enough (9 votes) so it would not pass. For the record the outcome on the ballot would have only been symbolic but nonetheless it would have gave Philadelphians a voice in this matter. Thoughts please!!!!!
