If anyone is considering buying a new car, NEVER have it financed - TopicsExpress

If anyone is considering buying a new car, NEVER have it financed thru Wells Fargo. There are too many bank that have gotten so big, they provide NO customer service, period. Big banks never talked to each other. We bought our 2013 Hyundai in September 2012. We thought were we going thru Hyundai Motors itself to be financed. In the small letters in states or their affiliate bank. That turned out to be Wells Fargo. We got a big letter welcoming us to Wells Fargo Bank if San Francisco . They said they would be financing our car and if we had any questions, or needed any other banking service, to give them a call. We transferred our car insurance to the Hyundai and gave them the bank information Wells Fargo sent to us. On October 2013 we got a letter from Wells Fargo Dealer Services telling us as far as they were concerned we never took out insurance on the car and they were going to bill us! That would be over 1 year after we bought the car! I called the 800 number listed on the letter. I would up talking to a person in Phoenix. I explained we had insurance from the day we walked out of the dealership. She say no we didnt. I told her I had the policy in my hand. She continued to argue we didnt. I say look, your not the only bank that finances cars and we could look elsewhere for financing. She said Ill connect to you to someone who will come pick up your car for defaulting on your loan. Absolutely great customer service and a credit to Wells Fargo Bank! Finally we were able to communicate. The problem was Hartford Insurance was informing the bank in SF. This person said that not who monitors insurance. You need to send all insurance to Wells Fargo Dealer Services in Pennsylvania. Hartford Insurance made the correction and sent Wells Fargo Dealer Services the policy. Now a year later, we get another letter from Wells Fargo Dealers Services saying we dont have insurance. We call Hartford Insurance and ask them to fax the policy back to Wells Fargo Dealer Services, again. Next we get a another threating letter from Wells Fargo Dealer Services stating Wells Fargo is not the payee. I refused to call these idiots again. We went to the local Wells Fargo Bank to straighten out this FUBAR. Dealer Services wouldnt talk to the local bank employee and had to speak with me. It turned out Wells Fargo Dealer Services would accept the policy because the payee was Well Fargo Bank, not Well Fargo Dealer Services! Those of you who know me, I just had to ask, why didnt this come up last year? Well Fargo Bank was the payee from day one! Why is this a big deal now, after 2 years? Of course nobody could give me an answer. I just had to asked why Wells Fargo couldnt call us, or write a simple note saying what Wells Fargo needed. Of course they had no answer, again. I guess they feel a form letter say it all and the customer needs to read in between the line to find out what they want. Wells Fargo Bank, like most bigger banks, dont feel customer service is needed. Too bad. Thats the main reason I will never bank at Wells Fargo, Bank of America, or Citibank. Chase is iffy, but they do provide better customer than the other 3 do. Needless to say Im looking to refinance our car loan with somebody else. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use Wells Fargo for a car loan. Save the aggravation!
