If evangelism is a prophetic ministry, then it should be marked with the true features of the prophets. These prophets neither dithered nor dogmatized. They were sure of their aim but not arrogant. They had the cool assurance of knowing two and two make four with no need to prove it, no polemics. They were passionate but not pushy (with a few exceptions). They let the truth speak for itself no browbeating them into submission. They did not wear boxing gloves. The prophetic formula was always “thus says the Lord,” not “I’m telling you!” Prophets just passed on what they had heard. It was not their business to defend it or to invite questions. It was the Lord’s responsibility to confirm the righteousness of His own Word. Today, like them, we are merely messengers. God bless you. REINHARD BONNKE
