If my Mom were still alive, this would be her 98th birthday. I - TopicsExpress

If my Mom were still alive, this would be her 98th birthday. I still miss her so much. At the risk of sounding prejudiced, I would like to state that Nona Freeman was the most spiritual lady I have ever known. She read her Bible through more than once every year. I should know, because I lived with her for the last 12 years she was here on earth (greatest blessing of my life) There will be literally thousands (if not millions) of souls in heaven because of her dedication to spreading the good news of the Gospel. She lived for ministry and selflessly answered every phone call and responded to every need, even during mealtimes. One week before she passed, she was lying in her hospital bed (brought into our home by Hospice) and while we knew her time was short, we were not ready to let her go. She raised her very feeble arm and waved at the ceiling. What are you waving at, Mom? I asked her. At my Bug (My Dads nickname), and my Jesus, they are across the river and they are waving for me to come over to join them, she answered. At little later she said, The river is too deep and the life-force is just too strong. We (my daughter, Treska and her hubby Dwayne as well as a friend, Leslie Clark) stayed at her bedside until 5:30 AM then left to get a little rest as she seemed to be sleeping peacefully. At about 10:00 AM I went to check on her, and she seemed alert and chipper so I asked her if she would like to have our very large family call her (to say good-bye) and she said that would be good. So I went into the office with my cell phone and started calling our family members in CA, WA, CO, OR and LA to tell them it was time to call her on the house phone to say good-bye. Treska and Dwayne took turns holding the house phone to her ear, while tears rolled down onto her pillow, as the members of our family said their final words to her. By 2:30 PM, she was exhausted. and she slipped into a comatose state. It was a week later, December 26, and I knew she couldnt last much longer because she had not had food or water for 5 days, our friends, Rev Greg and Sharetha Wheeler came over and we gathered around her bed. After making her as comfortable as possible, Sharetha read Scripture and we were playing beautiful worship music and were in a prayerful attitude when she breathed her last at 93 years of age. On my recent trip trip to Texas/Louisiana for the LA 100th camp meeting, I heard more of this story, Sharetha told me she had a vision of my Mom running and leaping across a wide river. She said she saw her stretch her long legs and just leap across a river. On the other side she jubilantly called, Ive made it! Ive made it! I have finally heard the rest of the story! Enjoy your reward, my beloved Mother, while we miss you here, I know you are having a ball with your Bug and your Jesus!
