If people are curious why I volunteer with the Police Reform Organizing Project (PROP) - this is the reason. Also, for the record, there are GOOD POLICE OFFICERS in this city - they are the officers on this video who are speaking anonymously about the Stop & Frisk policy and why it is wrong because of the way it is applied in NYC. Which is important to remember. The policy is currently constitutional IF AND ONLY IF it is done by the guidelines laid out by the Supreme Court in Terry v. Ohio. But, constitutional in theory doesnt necessarily mean constitutional as applied. If something is being applied outside of the legal framework meaning the NYPD is not following the legal guidelines, it can still easily become unconstitutional based on its application. My work is nothing against officers personally - it is about policies and decisions made by the higher ups. I know Ive had some disagreements with people about my involvement with this project when Ive announced it on this page but after watching this video (and hearing the stories of both civilians and police officers) you will understand why I do what I do. -Lys
