If point-and-shoots were as good as the PowerShot S120 when I - TopicsExpress

If point-and-shoots were as good as the PowerShot S120 when I bought my first DSLR, I may never have gone down the DSLR path. I originally went with my Canon Rebel because of the miserable shutter lag on the point-and-shoots of the time. The PowerShot S120 is a great little camera. Josie and I often found ourselves wanting a small carry-around camera when we were out walking. We love our Canon DSLRs with the interchangeable lenses, but wanted something easier to carry and quick to deploy. The 1 mb camera on our iPod is ridiculously bad. We don’t own a cell phone and don’t want one. Even the snapshots we see taken with some of the newer cell phones often leave a lot to be desired. Although the camera may seem a bit pricey, I think it is a great value with a peppy focus time, low light capability, good auto-focus, RAW capability, and a whole lot more. All the pictures on this Facebook post and Smugmug (ed-dingman.smugmug/Photography/PowerShot-120-examples/PowerShot-S120-samples/n-K97wC) were taken on full idiot, er, I mean full automatic, but you have lots of control if you want it. I think the camera is so good that it could easily be used as a back-up camera in a pinch.
