If rumored offer for Gareth Bale is true, AVB should sell sell sell Rumors have made the rounds today in England that Real Madrid is finally acting on it’s supposedly feverish wish to purchase Gareth Bale from Tottenham. Andre Villas-Boas has held firm that Spurs will not sell Bale, no matter the price, but most – including myself – believe that’s purely a smokescreen. Especially if the original offer is actually what’s being thrown around. According to a number of news outlets, Madrid and brand new manager Carlo Ancelotti have offered Angel Di Maria, Jose Callejon, plus cash for the highly-touted winger. With that type of offer, it’s not out of the question (SPECULATION ALERT) that the cash offer alongside those two players would be somewhere in the £45 million ($69 million) range, considering the number thrown around originally for Bale’s value had been around £85 million ($131 million). Of course losing Bale would be a major blow for the team he carried with 29 goals last year, but with the haul they’d get, Villas-Boas could more than make up for it. Di Maria, while not entirely replacing Bale in terms of production, would certainly carry his weight on the wing in Bale’s stead. Despite struggling to settle into the Real Madrid side during his time at the Bernabeu, Callejon could also contribute on the wing as well as up front in the thin Spurs attack squad. Then comes the cash. You know what Spurs could do with that kind of money? They could buy Christian Benteke and Wayne Rooney. They could almost buy Edinson Cavani. They could buy Wesley Sneijder, Paulinho, and have £28 million to spare. Finally, with the introduction of two new wingers in Callejon and Di Maria, that would allow Spurs to sell Gylfi Sigurddson and generate another £7 million or so. Bale is irreplaceable, and his loss would hurt, but the haul in return would be vital for Spurs as they continue to push into the top four of the Premier League table.
