If the Companions of the Prophet, during his own time, patiently bore the insults hurled at him, and were advised to do so by the Quran, (Bear patiently what they say...disregard their hurtful talks [20:130, 33:48]), how can these so-called Muslims in these times have the audacity to commit violence in the name of defending the Prophet? He doesnt need your defending! These slanders do not invalidate his message and his integrity, it AFFIRMS them instead, because all those who have ever professed truth, tolerance and equality have been ostracized throughout history, including Jesus a.s. and Moses a.s. This is true even from a secular perspective: Galileo, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Nelson Mandela, and recently, Edward Snowden. As George Orwell wrote: In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. You will certainly hear much abuse from the followers of previous books and from the idol-worshipping people. And if you are patient and keep your duty -- this is surely a matter of great resolution -Quran, (3:185)
