If there had been no dashcam, the police report would have read, suspect dove aggressively into vehicle, ignoring commands. His behavior gave me reasonable suspicion that he was arming himself, and I opened fire to protect myself and the gas station patrons. The investigation would have been inconclusive, and this country would have been divided, as usual, over whether this man deserved to be shot. We have to put cameras and mics on every officer. This video literally breaks my heart--this guy almost lost his life over a seat belt violation.
