If this is true, this is an example of mainstreaming. Cults take a somewhat predictable course. They control members, they grow in numbers, then as dissent and exposure for their restrictive/harsh doctrines occurs, they start to soften, mainstreaming in a desperate attempt to retain members. And they can get away with these types of flip-flops in stance because members will exhibit cognitive dissonance. They will accept this blindly, not seeing the apparent contradiction because for years, none of this would have been allowed in a Kingdom Hall, viewed as too worldly and not showing respect for Jehovahs place of worship.
