If this post offends you, keep it to yourself.......I normally dont voice my opinion like this, but I am getting so irritated seeing peoples negative comments about this situation. I am sure everyone has seen the 29 year old girl from Oregon who has TERMINAL brain cancer and is taking advantage of the Death with Dignity law that they have in place. If you dont agree with it, then thats your opinion, but I am tired of seeing people say that she is trying to get 15 min of fame, or that she is committing a SIN by deciding to die. I believe in miracles but medically speaking, no God of yours, can save her illness now. She IS going to die. Its not if, its when. There has been only one person to survive what she has and she wasnt as far along as this girl is. Once tumors in the brain are to much, there is nothing else they can do. I wouldnt agree with this law if the person wasnt terminally ill just so we are clear. There is a lot of criteria that needs to be met to even be considered for this program. Most people who qualify for this, never actually fill the prescription to take. Its just comforting knowing that if it gets to painful they have that option. To watch someone die of brain cancer like my own mother did is horrifying. Its like nothing else and nothing you ever want to see!!! It takes over their body completely. They cant control any of their bodily functions, they have excruciating pain, cant talk, they have constant seizures, and they get to a point where they dont know anyone around them, not even their loved ones! Its terrifying, confusing, and painful all at the same time. Of course I would like to see people fight, but on the other hand, I would like to have not witnessed my mom go through all of the above. I would like not to have the memory of her asking who I was. I would have not liked to see her have seizures mid sentence, and I would have not liked to see her be in so much pain. I would have MUCH rather seen her go peacefully like this woman is choosing to do. So until you watch someone you love die of brain tumors, please keep your negative comments at bay. Unless you are in her shoes, you do not have the right to judge her decisions! Rant over :)
