If we are attempting to fast the 6 days of Shawwal let us fast from the 7th to the 12th of August and we have the chance to get great rewards - We will fast the 6 days of Shawwal after fasting Ramadan which is like fasting the entire year, and according to some narrations like fasting a lifetime [Narrated from the Prophet by Muslim, Nasai, Ibn Majah, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi] - We will fast 3 days of a month which has the reward of fasting for a month [Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim] - We will fast the 13th, 14th and 15th of a lunar month which is equivalent to fasting for a lifetime [Narrated by an-Nasai] - We will fast a Monday and a Thursday, days on which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam was keen to fast and said our deeds are presented to Allah and that he wad born on Monday and revelation came to him on Monday [Narrated by Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and an-Nasai] So we get the reward of fasting two lifetimes, a year, a month and on days in which the Prophet loved to fast.
