If we knew that the rain falling now was the Holy Spirit. .. Would we go running in it frantically and wildly, looking up with our eyes and mouth wide open? Or would we step slowly and deliberately into it and stand still, trusting and allowing it to hit us at its own will., looking toward Heaven again with our eyes and mouth open hoping to receive every drop? Rain, Holy Spirit, Reign down on me! We take for granted the reasons for the rain to fall. God created a substance that could be poured upon the whole world. It is clear and gentle but able to penetrate every surface. It can change the form of its recipient; sometimes immediately and sometimes it must soak in. There are times when our Great Creator pours into His creation and it cannot contain it. Glorious overflow happens! It may drop over the edges, it may bubble up and over, it might form a standing puddle and sometimes it will flow like a mighty river and spill over as a great waterfall. And, its no accident that it lingers even after the rain stops. Oh, how it lingers., the cleansing smell, the surfaces of those touched shine with new life. The rain came as He commanded, it accomplished flawlessly the task the Lord sent it to do. As we often do, we will overlook the miracle of the rain and all its effects, no thought of its purpose, the growth that will occur, the cleansing, the healing....... If only a reminder of how the soul longs for the SON, so the body and the earth long for the sun.. Let the rain reign!
