With all the lists of books that impacted us in our lives appearing up here on FB, I forgot to mention On the Beach on mine. For those of you who might not have read it decades ago (or saw the movie), it tells the terrifying tale of some folks being left on a submarine while the rest of the world perished from a nuclear event. They end up in Australia and count the months until the fallout reaches them. The book has its philosophical moments, as the quote above illustrates. So, I ask myself....what do I have planned?
