If you LOVE aquariums and fish, you owe it to yourself and your family to go visit the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. I was there on opening day for a whole week. Its by far the largest aquarium in the world, and has 4 whale sharks, the largest fish in the world. The trademark exhibit is the Georgia Explorer tank. That tank alone holds 6.2 million gallons, bigger than the entire Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. You could fit 312 school buses inside the Georgia Explorer tank. All of that water is held back by a special plexiglass from Japan thats 2 feet thick, and a sample of it is in the viewing area called the wow window. As I said....youd have to experience this for yourself to really grasp how big and fun this entire aquarium is. All of this was funded and built by Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, whom I had the pleasure of meeting on opening day. Coca cola donated the land, and Marcus invested $250 million to build it.
