If you allow me Id like to share my story. Im not a prison wife. I am a prison girl friend. I met my love and best friend through my brother who is also doing time. Ive never ever visited anyone in jail let alone knew anyone that was ever in prison. This is my brothers first bid (time in jail) as they say. Being a prison girlfriend is a world I knew nothing about. My boyfriend and I started off simply corresponding through corrlinks. We corresponded for a few times and he asked if he could call me. I said sure, not really thinking anything would come out of a phone call. I had my ideas of what a man in prison was and how sure I was hed be just another waste of my time. Well... He called and I was immediately intrigue... His voice, the language and choice of words were nothing like I had expected. I admit I expected slag and ghetto language. Well we decided wed finally meet in person and at first sight, inside I said to myself Eh, hes cute but not my type. This will be short lived. I am sure. Well after that first visit there was a 3rd visit then a 14th visit and 7 months later Ive lost count how many visits we have had and will continue to have. I was wrong! He is just my type. He is exactly what my life needed. He makes me what to be a better mother, girlfriend, daughter and human being. I love him and he won my heart with laughter instantly. He has been down for 14 years and has approx 10 more left. With all the predictions of the mandatory sentences changing in 2014 I am hopeful he will be home much sooner. Either way Im his ride or die and I will support him no matter how much time he does. Future wife of inmate 33887-764 in the BOP in Texas
