If you are free and interested, I will be giving a lecture-workshop at the 2nd DLSU Student Media Congress on July 26, Saturday, from 830-10AM. Apparently, I will talk about Bryanboy, a bit of Boris Groys, a bit of fashion, a bit of hipsterism, and contemporary art. You need to pre-register to attend the event, but I will be happy to reserve seats for curious friends! (No registration needed for curious friends who wake up before 830 on a Sat!!!) MWAH About the lecture-workshop Seriously Cool is a lecture-workshop that posts a series of questions on how image production and tactics of self-design online can establish a link to the idea of accessing art. The lecture-workshop will discuss how the processes of appreciating, looking at, and showing art are asserted and/or inserted in blogging, fashion, and hipsterism. Seriously Cool will expound specific cases to show how these seductive platforms of communication, agents of visibility, and attitudes of individualism enable/disable participation in the artworld. Some of the cases to be discussed include Bryanboy, Shanzhai Biennial, Yuckzine, and the works of some contemporary artists. Seriously Cool: Impulses of Assertion and Insertion in Contemporary Visual Culture is one of the non-competing workshops organized by the 2nd DLSU Student Media Congress under the theme Empowering Media Catalysts.
