If you are not aware the group calling itself Citizens Organized for Responsible Development (aka CORD) has again been successful in placed a referendum on the November ballot in the City of Port Clinton. CORD is the group organized to stop any development of the 14 acres of commercially zoned lakefront land (more commonly known as Waterworks Park.) If approved by the voters this referendum would require a city wide vote to authorize or reject the sale or lease of city park property. Keep in mind that every person seated in the Council Chambers is there because they ran on a platform of opportunity and development. Those that said “no” or “I’m not sure” did not get elected. So the general understanding throughout the community is there is limited chance of this referendum passing. Unless that is the voters get confused with the “NO means YES” shell game. However, we can’t place our future in a “HOPE” that voters will understand the issues at hand here. We need to take action to inform them. So, what can you do to help? Signs, ads, flyers, posters and other outlets of communicating our message are needed to spread the good word. These things take money. If you are able, please send your check to: Friends For Port Clinton 806 E. 2nd Street Port Clinton, OH 43452 Or if you are able to walk the streets of Port Clinton placing flyers on doors and/or signs in yards please contact Roseann Hickman – 419-308-4690 or [email protected]. The next Friends For Port Clinton meeting will be at 7:30 PM on Thursday, August 28th at 1812 Food & Spirits. Thanks for your time and consideration in this matter.
