If you are pleading guilty to a criminal offence, it may be beneficial to write a letter of apology to the court accepting responsibility, expressing remorse and describing any steps you have taken towards making amends and reducing the prospect of re-offending. In some circumstances, it may be appropriate to write a letter of apology to the victim and to send it to the police officer-in-charge or give it to your criminal lawyer - who can then forward it to the victim.
