The Phillies previously worked out Jose Abreu, but asked him to field third in a private workout because Ryan Howard was road blocking first base. Why they thought a 63 255 lb power hitter could field 3rd is beyond us. Why wouldnt they make him play OF where the chances of being successful are much higher. Not to mention two of their most ready prospects in the minors were both 3rd basemen, Franco and Asche. None of this makes sense. Wasnt Abreus bat good enough to get him in your system and figure out a posistion later? Especially when there was no OF prospects in your system. (Its in the last paragraph)
