If you called or stopped by the shop after 4 today, guess what?? I wasnt there. I was out checking the ice on the north end of Cascade. Heres what I found. One inch of ice at the Sugarloaf boat ramp. Two inches farther east of the boat ramp (in the shallow bay area). A layered five inches of ice at Poison Creek boat ramp, i.e. two inches of ice, one inch water, and two more inches of ice. And lastly, I got a solid six inches of ice about a half mile north of West Mountain campground. Also, the report from the spillway area on Horsethief is a layered three inches (a second hand report). They indicated it was a nervous three inches. The north end of Horsethief is, as Bill Beutler noted below, becoming thick enough for anglers to venture forth (with some caution, of course). Extra cold days and nights are in the forecast. Hooray for frozen toes!
