If you catch a blue crab in the Chesapeake Bay with a pink tag attached, you’re in luck! The tags were placed there by researchers at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, who are trying to find out how many crabs are caught by recreational fishermen in the Bay. If you call the number on the tag and report your catch, you’ll get a monetary award—and help out some Smithsonian scientists.
