If you give a fish to hungry persons , they will eat that day and next time they come for more fish; but if you give them a hook, if you teach them how to fish, they will eat every day. But if the rights of the fishermen are not taken care of, they might have no access to fishing because of the structures of exploitation, oppression and alienation- hence the need for liberation approach to the issue where focus is advocating for the rights of the hungry. Beyond advocating for fishing rights of the poor its critical to focus on empower them to have a sustainable fishing - hence the concept of transformation. NB: In any activity we undertake, the focus should be on the transformation of the society.
