If you have Netflix you MUST see this film! I saw Virunga: The Movie tonight. It tells a sad story that is going on all over the continent of Africa. In Virunga the situation is most dire, where personal profit is more important to the government and the various self-appointed powers that be than its people and its animals and its own national heritage. We are standing idly by while the continent is being picked over by monied interests who are killing African wildlife into extinction to enrich themselves. VIRUNGA was a most powerful documentary, told more like a thriller than a recounting of facts and details. As member of one of the Academys we screen tons of films all year round and VIRUNGA was one of the top ten films Ive seen all year. I urge anyone who cares about the existence of our wildlife to see this film and take action to stop the ongoing wholesale slaughter of our wildlife. A very powerful experience.
