If you have a powerful military you are controlling your own people. The Military FIRE (finance, insurance, real estate) complex ensures that that is an essential feature of life in the United States. When tweeters are surprised at what they see as police brutality against the Occupy movement they do not seem to realize that it is logical and consistent with the existence of a large well organized armed force. The police are only a small unit, a front backed by the military. And the existence of the military and its fantastic growth over the last 50 years ensures that it will control the population. The structure exists precisely for its function. The existence of the Military FIRE complex (structure) means that the subjugation of the Occupy movement with force and nationwide coordination (function) is inevitable. There is no other way. As Gandhiji said Means and Ends are reversible terms. One contains the other. Not just the seeds of the other but the other in fully developed fully flowered form. So what we need to change is not the actions of the police. Not to have the police act less brutally but to change the System itself. Unless we get rid of the military FIRE complex we will not be rid of brutality against our people and people all over the world.
