Hey guys, Im posting here in the hope that someone, somewhere may know of a child with the same conditions, who may have some advice or know a good practitioners who really can help. I have a son named Jarred aged 26 months, who has never eaten a piece of solid/real food in his life. His diet consist of a 4mth old baby food, puréed texture. Jarred will put some finger foods into his mouth, but will hold the food inside his mouth, with no chewing, munching, or swallowing for an hour if you let him. Jarred had suffered this condition since 7 months of age. After 30+ different specialist (such as OTs, Dietians, Speech Therapists, gastronoligist, pediatric clinics) we arent getting anywhere. Up untill Jarred was just 2, we were always told its a gag reflex, but that was never good enough for me. He has now been diagnosed with Feeding Aversion, an oral hypersensitivity, because he is aware of what happens when he eats these foods, gags and vomits, its turned into a fear response. I have been told by a specialist that my son shall need feeding tubes within time, when purée is no longer enough. Were also dealing with fussy eating, possible speech delays, sleep issues and have a really hard time finding Jarred child care. Im hoping someone can help. We have been turned away by so many specialists due to no-one knowing how to help; due to funds; and training not being done here in Australia. There is no funding for these conditions.
