If you have received or do receive a call from an OUT OF AREA - TopicsExpress

If you have received or do receive a call from an OUT OF AREA number on your phone and you do take the call, you may hear that it a call from an individual working for Tech Support for "Window" and that they have received a number of "error" report from my computer and they wish for me to sign on to my computer and they will go over the report with me. I just received the second of such calls for this week. The first call I was rather rude and told them that the only numbers that I was going to share with them was the phone number of the office of the attorney general for Idaho and I hung up on them. Today, I again received a second call. This time I "played" with them a little bit and eventually was told that he was putting me on hold to have his supervisor talk with me . I told that would be great, I welcome talking to his supervisor ( More game playing). Once I was put on hold, the call was disconnected. I called the Boise BBB and gave them the scenario of my call and asked if others have also complained. I was told that yes, they have other complaints and that these calls have been coming into our area for about a year. It is a way for someone to gain access to your computer and then they install a virus. So beware, and standup and protect yourself and if you have elderly family members with computers, be sure that they know about these calls and do not fall prey by these callers into doing as they are directed by the caller
