If you haven’t heard the word ‘Qtiyapa’ , you must have been living under a rock, and if you have, you are obviously familiar with The Viral Fever. Their popularity is commendable, The Viral Fever has over 10 million views on their Youtube Channel with over 60000 subscribers and about 30 million minutes of their videos have been watched. The company was started by Arunabh Kumar, an IIT Kharagpur alumnus who delved into such media productions in his college days. He worked with MTV for a while and was also the assistant director of Om Shanti Om. But Arunabh soon lost interest. “I wanted to create content that people could relate to and something which would be well-liked by people living in metros and cities — an evolved show,” says Arunabh. So he made the internet his platform, by starting a Youtube channel. Arunabh says, “I laid down the plan in 2010 and we shot our first pilot, ‘Inglorious Seniors’ — a spoof on ragging in colleges with an Inglorious Bastards like twist to it,” says Arunabh. Considering that most college students have access to internet, the video became viral in the college circuit and a prominent feature on Facebook feeds.” The rest as they say is history. The more the number of their video productions, the greater the number of viewers and subscribers garnered by their YouTube channel. Their most famous productions include “Rowdies 9- Sab Qtiyapa Hai”, “Gang of Social Media 1 & 2”,”Chai Sutta Chronicles”, “Breaking Good – Alok Nath Qtiyapa” and “Bollywood Aam Aadmi Party: Arnab’s Qtiyapa”. About them coming to NSIT for Grand Moksha ’14, Chirag Sir says,”TVF recently made a teaser video for University of Delhi’s cultural fest Antardhvani, at the same time we approached them to make a similar video for Moksha ’14. They agreed to do so. We then thought of inviting them to the college, considering their immense popularity with today’s youth. They were more than willing to perform”. So get ready for some mind blowing Qtiyapa this Grand Moksha ’14.
