If you knew of this guys poems or readings, or could listen when you had a glass of something you like, the light turned down for a few hours you could feel intelligent and proud to be Irish in the one way we are all a like, a love of verse I suppose covers what I believe. My Da said it was because we, the Irish took a bookkeepers language into polished prose. My Da died in 1979 at 62, WWII caught up with him I think, he was short on compliments, but between surprising knowledge of poets and love for african American spiritual music and both my parents forcing all of us to learn to dance in grade school so as to not embarrass ourselves at Wakes. I suppose the R/B, Rock/Roll love was sure to follow. Mostly I know Seamus Heaney by renditions of Bay-wolf [not sure spelling] 8th century stories of killing monsters and dying in the process, been a while, next to Yeats and Joyce I believe Seamus was my contemporary.
