If you know anything about the battle-rap circuit, then you must - TopicsExpress

If you know anything about the battle-rap circuit, then you must be more than familiar with Pittsburgh native and mic-stealer, Real Deal; he was chosen as one of eight competitors on BETs Ultimate Freestyle Friday competition in June 2013, the same month his mother made it into heaven (RIP). Zo Duro (KOTD) had the chance to sit down with Real Deal, kindly known as the Working Mans Emcee, a little earlier this year while he was in Toronto for KOTDs annual battle-rap competition Blackout 4. Though he may not be your average battle-rapper, Real Deals life story epitomizes the financial struggle that many in his city have faced in the past and are still dealing with today. Growing up with three other siblings, supported by his father alone (his mother was disabled) in a predominantly black area of Pittsburgh, Real Deal says that he had no idea that he was poor and had a great childhood. In this intimate interview, he elaborates on his upbringing, reveals his influences, explains how it feels to be a single father, and reflects on losing his mother to cancer. You can also find the interview at zoduro where battle rap connoisseur/entertainer/host/interviewer Zo Duro takes viewers on a World tour of places shes been, events that shes hosted, and people who she has met along the way. Zo Duro is a force to be reckoned with, possessing an insatiable hunger for true hip hop and the skills to match. ZoDuro will keep you in the loop with real MCs, underground producers and even some awkwardly hilarious conversations captured along the way. Peep game after the jump! Written by Angelina M.
