If you like Caetano Veloso, youll probably love Brazils Marcio Faraco. Catch this beautiful singer and fantastic guitar player at Lula Lounge tomorrow, Tuesday March 18. Luanda Jones opens with her killer trio. And if you dont trust me, trust the Stars Chris Young: Faraco’s songbook centres on his native Brazil’s rich tradition of samba, bossa nova and choro, but he’s not averse to adding other elements — Portuguese fado, even Afro-Cuban beats — and finally his light and sweet acoustic guitar, and the combination can transport you straight to a Ipanema bar. For this show he’s joined by Philippe Baden Powell on piano, son of legendary Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell. Toronto’s Rio-born jazz chanteuse Luanda Jones starts things off and she’s a blast, so come early. thestar/entertainment/music/2014/03/12/concert_sampler_lorde_pat_metheny_and_houndmouth.html
