If you live HUMBLY, submitting to God before marriage , it wont be so hard to live together in peace after marriage. I hear people say that if you are single for a longtime prior to marriage it will harder when you get married, because you are used to doing things your own way. If you are set on doing things your own way and not in the habit of seeking God first, they would be right!!!!! You will not have practice at surrender/compromise/not having your own way and listening to GOD! Our God is a good God , marriage being harder for one who has been single for awhile is not of Him! Hes bigger than that!! God doesnt plan for your marriage to be harder because you have waited on HIM to provide a mate ,instead of taking things into your own hands!!! So if there are bigtime conflicts take a look at you , not at how long it took you to get married! Conflict in marriage stems from wanting your own way, feeling we have rights, not trusting God first to meet your needs most of all, not pursuing understanding as well as being understood, not caring about the other person more than yourself, not submitting to God and wanting His will MOST of all. Humility will lead to working things out. James4:1 What cause quarrels and fights come among you ? Is it not this, that your passions (selfish desires) are at war within you? Take up your cross DAILY ( not just when you are married) and deny yourself. Luke 9:23
