If you look VERY closely at Age of Extinction, Optimus barely dons his silver knight colors from an earlier draft of the film. If you watch when Optimus runs to face Lockdown at the end of the movie, just before Lockdown jumps down from his ship, Optimus is Completely silver, with large, armored shoulders.
