Translators make several different choices—helper, advocate, counselor, and comforter. Some coin a new word out of the original Greek word—Paraklete. How we translate the word is not nearly as important as our understanding of the Holy Spirits presence in Yahushua disciples. The abiding presence of the Holy Spirit is one of the most crucial and distinguishing characteristics of a Christian. The world cannot recognize the Spirits presence, much less receive the Holy Spirits abiding presence. Christians, however, are given the Holy Spirit as a gift when they are saved. The Spirit makes them pure and holy and then lives inside them, making them Gods holy temple. Whats more, the Spirits presence is lasting! He wont leave us! Prayer Father and LORD, you are the holy and righteous God. Your majesty and might are incomparable. But, dear Father, I am a sinner. I have fallen short of your holy standards. I am not worthy to enter your presence. So I thank you today, knowing that your Spirit, my Comforter and Counselor, has purified me and now dwells inside me.
