If you only know Nels Clines expansive guitar playing through his role in Wilco for the last decade, you’ve got some catching up to do: for more than a quarter-century, Cline has been one of the most active and exciting electric players in the world, skipping between side-projects and collaborations, solo work and new bands. During Cline’s time with us at this year’s festival, we’re excited to present “Stained Radiance,” his multimedia duo with provocative painter Norton Wisdom. As Wisdom paints on a translucent frame, a strong backlight projecting his ever-morphing figures through the room, the canvas itself becomes a moving picture and Cline plays along, not only reflecting the action of Wisdom’s scenes but also attempting to build an atmosphere in which they can thrive. It’s an immersive experience, a synesthetic opportunity to hear what you see & see what you hear.
