If you plan to cook a spiral-sliced ham and you want good ham - TopicsExpress

If you plan to cook a spiral-sliced ham and you want good ham gravy and a sweet glazed ham, just take the ham, place it in a large cooking bag, take 3 T. ham base mixed with 2/3 c. of hot water and cook ham according to directions on packaging. About an hour before it is done, remove it from the oven. Carefully remove ham from cooking bag and place in a large roasting pan.. Make a slurry of 1/2 c. cold water and 2 T. corn starch and add drippings from cooking bag. Pour into medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. As it begins to thicken, reduce heat to lowest setting and cover with lid. Keep ham gravy warm until ready to serve. Meanwhile, adorn the ham with pineapple slices. Mix the contents of the glaze packet with 1 c. pineapple juice and 1/2 c. brown sugar. Place ham back in oven, uncovered for 45-60 minutes, until pineapple slices are lightly browned. Now you have a sweet glazed ham and the salty goodness of old-fashioned ham gravy. You can also stud the ham with whole cloves at the same time you add the pineapple slices, but I do not care for cloves so I leave them out.
