If you use Google today, be sure to click the Google Doodle. Google is celebrating the birthday of Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin, a British chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1964. From the Chemical Heritage Foundation: Hodgkin’s most significant scientific contributions were the determination of the structures of penicillin, insulin, and vitamin B12. In 1964 she won the Nobel Prize in chemistry for her determinations by X-ray techniques of the structures of important biochemical substances.
