If you want to catch Mew you just have to beat the elite four seven times, and on the seventh play through, catch a shiny Mewtwo. The wall at the back of the cave collapses, enter the cave, and during the conversion, shut off your game and switch it to the other version. After that you will appear in the version of Pokemon you just switched out but now theres a light shining through the cave. Use fly there and youll see a new island on the map. During the transition switch out the two games again and youll fight Mew under the truck.
