If you watch the video below carefully, you can see that despite the fact that the man wielding the knife had just stabbed a young student and was clearly being threatening, the men at synagogue were not running away. Rather, they offered the assailant food and when the first policeman arrived on the scene with his gun drawn and pointed, you could clearly hear at least one of the congregants tell him, No, no, no, no (countless times, then)! Hey, hey, hey, hey! He just wants to eat. He then tells the assailant (whos just stabbed a student and can be seen threatening another man on this video just moments earlier), Just put down the knife. And then he repeats to the cop, Dont shoot!. So basically, to summarize, an attacker walks into a synagogue and stabs a 22 year old foreign student, with everything thats happened lately, and the congregants calmly try to feed him. And, when things get heated as the police arrive, the congregants still try to save the assailant from himself, and consequently, the police. In any case, lets all pray for the full and speedy recovery of this mornings victim - Levi Yitzchok ben Raizel - who has just been put into a medically induced coma, Hashem yishmor.
