If you were to ask me how many mountains Ive climbed, I would not be able to give you an answer. I have honestly lost count. My travels have taken me over many mountains, both figuratively and literally. As I look back at the past year, and at my life so far, there is one truth that is obvious to me: the most difficult peaks to ascend are the ones that have the most spectacular views. It is those views, my love of nature and my sense of adventure that has given me the hope and courage to cross dark valleys and overcome difficult obstacles. Tonight, many people will be singing Auld Lang Syne. That song seems a bit too sentimental and melancholy to me. Id rather sing something a little more upbeat and inspirational. Id like to offer this alternative, sung by One Republic. My wish for all of you at the closing of the year is this: I hope you cherish every moment. I hope you take chances. I hope you make stupid mistakes that lead to amazing adventures. I hope that during times of reflection when you examine your lives, that you can embrace both your tribulations and your triumphs.
