If you will let me be, I will try them. You will see. Say! I like green eggs and ham! I do! I like them, Sam-I-am! Unless they was done that way intentionally, if your eggs and ham are green, I would probably give em a toss! HAM Is going to be our focus today! I LOVE a good bone in ham! The problem is that they are so big, unless you have 15 people to feed, you generally end up with Ham for days! Not to worry, Johns here to help ya out! For breakfast, Ham is an amazing option as it goes with just about anything you can think of! Ham and pancakes? ok, Ham and waffles? sure! Ham and Bacon? Pork redundant... but count me in! Ham and cheese omelet, Ham burrito, the list goes on and on. Ham is a staple for breakfast anywhere ya go! But for me? Nothing says I love you more than a good old fashion Ham and eggs with a side of taters! For lunch, Ham and cheese sandwich please!!! Now is the time to put some of those good garden veggies to good use as well! A nice slice of ham with a tomato and cucumber from your garden! By now youre getting down to the nitty gritty in getting ham off of that bone at which point most will just throw away the bone and call it a few good meals! Are ya nuts? You may as well just open up your wallet and throw a couple 5s in the trash too!! Im going to show you how to make a pot of golden goodness that will have you asking Where has this been my whole life? The ham stock! OH it is so good! It is good as a broth all by itself! It is also the base behind any good quality ham based soup such as split pea and ham, ham and bean, ham and potato, ham and barley, cheddar ham, mmmmmmm, the list goes on! But, they all start with a good ham stock! and thats what were going to make today! For this youll need 2 lbs ham, with ham bone 5 cups ham broth 1 large carrot, sliced into large chunks 1 large onion, quartered 4 stalks celery, coarsely diced 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley, crushed 1 bay leaf Lets begin I start with a large stock pot 1st thing in the morning. Fill it about halfway, add the ham bone, bring it to a simmer and let it be all day! This gives you your ham broth. Transfer the bone and all the ham chunks to your dutch oven as well as 5 cups of the broth. Combine the rest of the ingredients in the same dutch oven. Cover and simmer 30 to 40 minutes. Strain broth and discard residue. Cool and skim off fat. Cover and store in refrigerator or freeze for future use. there ya have it!
