If your goal is fat reduction, you must pay attention to food. Going from sedentary to exercising 3 times per week may not result in fat loss. When you exercise, you get hungry, and you will eat more. This may be subconscious. You will get fitter and stronger, but maybe your body fat stays the same. You need a caloric deficit to lose weight, so pay attention to your food intake. You dont necessarily have to count calories, but you do need to be making a conscious decision to eat a little less.
