If your rats are like mine, they dont like eating lab blocks. They inhale Oxbow, but never touch the blocks. Well, Ive made my own lab block paste (but its actually not sticky). All you need is your untouched lab blocks, and some all natural apple sauce. Place blocks in blender, watch them become fine dust. Put apple sauce in container, try not to eat. Pour block dust onto sauce, stirring until sauce has the consistency of thick oatmeal. Taste test with your ratties. If they lick up the test sample on your spoon in less than a minute, you have succeeded. Store in refrigerator, label properly. Essentially, you want this to be lab blocks with a touch of apple, making sure the rats get their recommended intake of nutrients, but with the rats thinking theyre getting a tasty treat. This coupled with a vegetable, the rats have a nice dinner, their nutrition, and their Oxbow when its not dinner time.
