If youve been following the Safe City Project coverage by the Record Searchlight, today Jenny Espino has a story about how a month after the Safe City Project’s big splash at its crime solutions town hall at the Redding Civic Auditorium, its founder, April LaFrance, is heading to Redding City Hall. LaFrance is the main speaker at Monday’s special Redding City Council meeting. Her task is to gain the body’s support on four of the 11 proposals her committee promoted Nov. 13 to reduce crime. “We’re going to do our best to provide them with the information that they would need, the research that we’ve done. We’re sending ahead of time, links and reference material,” she told Jenny in an interview earlier this month, “so they can make an educated decision on whether or not they think this is something that would benefit our city moving forward.” A majority on the council, however, signaled they may not be ready to implement any of the ideas largely because of costs.
