If youve been paying attention [I sure as hell havent. I mean, if I dont care, why should you?], you may have noticed that I have a tumultuous relationship with Facebook. In short, I hate it. Yet I have to admit, it is useful. I think this is the sixth incarnation of my profile. The invasiveness of the platform gets to me and I quit. Sometimes merely deactivating for a while, and sometimes deleting the whole damn thing altogether. My first go around lasted about three and a half minutes. I can never get a firm handle on what, and how much, to share. Just going along with it all just invites a flood of crap in the news feed, and has ones information floating off to who-knows-where. I know, there are settings and filters. Ive max-ed them all out. I read that Facebook purchased Snapchat. You know, the texting app that deletes posts as soon as they are sent & received. I like that idea. I wish that sort of thing would be incorporated into Facebook itself. I mean, really, most stuff doesnt need to be lurking about for eternity. Some of it much, much less. Recently, I have been deleting posts, comments, and likes after a while. A week at the most - sometimes as quickly as a day. If fact, if youve replied to a comment of mine, you may want to back and clean things up, otherwise other people will think you are strange. I already think youre strange. So you cant change that. But, it is probably why we are friends, so... ...anyway... going back into the activity log and spending some time doing housekeeping is not as much fun as one might think. In fact, its quite the pain to run around trying to keep the screws on Facebook. So what does all this mean? I dont know.
