Igalamela LG Chair to Boost Electricity Supply With Transformer The Chairman of Igalamela/ Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Comrade Zakito Umar has assured the people of stable electricity and promised to provide transformer to boost the stability. To make it a reality, he performed the foundation laying ceremony of the transformer to improve the epileptic electricity supply to residents of Emachi Road, as well as Ikare Road. Speaking at the occasion, Umar stated that he was overwhelmed with the support he has received from the people since he took over the mantle of leadership in the local government. He declared that the occasion was a clear manifestation of his administration’ s commitment and dedication to, making the life of his people better by addressing issues bothering on rural development which according to him, was one of the focal points of his administration. The Chairman added that his administration attaches significant importance to the provision of electricity to rural communities as part of efforts to fast track the pace of development in the local government. The council boss recalled the biblical account of creation, noting that the first statement by God was “let there be light” and indeed there was light. This he said demonstrated the importance attached to light in any developmental effort, promising that there would be electricity supply in all nooks and crannies of the local government for rapid economic and social transformation of the area. According to him, the transformer project, as well as a culvert linking Otobo-Ajaja and other neighbouring communities to Ajaka, the headquarters of the local government, is personally funded by the chairman and not from the local government treasury. He, therefore, commended the effort of the parish priest of St Patrick Catholic Church, Ajaka, Rv. Fr. Mathew Attah for his unflinching support and for closely monitoring and supervising the project to ensure judicious spending of funds. He appealed to the people to ensure that the transformer is well guided and protected from agents of saboteur. He warned that any one caught sabotaging the good intentions of his administration would be severely dealt with in accordance with the laws of the country. Later, Rev Fr Attah expressed his appreciation to the chairman for his magnanimity and urged him not to relent in the rendering of selfless services to his people
