Ilfracombe WW1 Commemorations Those of us honoured to walk for an Ilfracombe WW1 soldier who never came back and then stand for them as their names were called out at Runnymede Gardens were given a book. I think the title is very poignant For those that come after us. Its a quote taken from one of the letters in the book. The book, which is beautifully produced, was written by Jane Dendle and Sue Garwood and copies can be bought from the Ilfracombe Museum. It includes letters from local soldiers as well as the story of the over 1,000 injured Belgian soldiers who came to Ilfracombe to recover and convalesce. Here is a picture of our adopted soldier William Percival Mock. He lived at 2 Rock Cottages, High Street, Ilfracombe. Does anyone who knows Ilfracombe know where this is/was? So far we have not been able to find out.
