Ill be supporting the 4th annual Hip-Hop Awards tonight as 1/3 of its committee. Hope to see everybody out there, networking, entering raffle drawings, etc. Remember: Its just one event put on by a few people, not the end of the world. But the donations do mean a lot to the people who benefit from them. For the past 4 years, myself and two others have worked tirelessly to put on fundraisers, free public shows, free industry conferences (never before done in our city) and support local non-profits that give kids opportunities to be creative in safe environments. We always ask for input and help from members of the local hip-hop community, but we rarely get any. Its sad that I have to log on to Facebook and read all these posts about how were frauds and fakes and f** us and our events. We dont make money off of our events-- everything that we dont spend on booking venues, paying for sound, flyers, guest speakers, etc. goes to charity. We have never asked for a cent from any artists in the community-- we dont charge to vote, to perform, no bad business. If people want to talk to us, were at the same place every single Monday night. Talking down to somebody on Facebook isnt respectable. Everybodys entitled to an opinion, but disrespect is something completely different. Thank you to the supporters and the artists.
