Ill never understand the double standard most humans have for - TopicsExpress

Ill never understand the double standard most humans have for their own species and the rest of life, and even within their own species. I dont see much difference when I look at a bird, or dog, or worm, or a person. Humans have these very recent, very modest intellectual advantages, and like two other physical advantages (opposable thumbs and long-distance running), which set us marginally apart from the other life on this planet. But were still entirely dependent on a lot of it, like the thousands of digesting microbes in our gut, the skin-eating mites on our faces, the mitochondria who share a symbiotic relationship with us (the least of what they do is give us that distance running advantage), and myriad other little life that resides on and in our bodies. And all the creatures and plants, and other life who comprise our nutrients; our diets; the very nectar of our lives. What on Earth ever gave us the idea that we were superior to any of it, and could mistreat and destroy it with such abandon and lack of remorse?
